Research in Belgium
Born in Brussels, I live in Wallonia (the French-speaking part of the country) and also speak fluent Dutch. I can help you find your ancestors in Belgium up to the first available written sources depending on the cities. I will provide you with a well-documented written report, if possible with reproductions of documents and historical evidence of your ancestry.
Research in Europe
Thanks to my own history, I have acquired a lot of knowledge in the Dutch, French and Hungarian archives. I also have sufficient skill in the Hungarian language. I travel regularly to these countries and can also help you to find an ancestor, a place or a document. As for all my missions, you will receive a written report with the discovered documents.

Because genealogy is a passion, I will regularly share on this site my recent discoveries, my anecdotes and even my difficulties. History sometimes puts obstacles to our research, but it also reserves us sometimes beautiful surprises. You will also find useful resources for your research, such as online sources, or simply news related to Belgian genealogy.
A few words about me
I was about 12 years old when I started my first family tree with my grandmother, Helen, born in 1934 in Vilvoorde, near Brussels in Belgium. Her parents had just immigrated to Belgium from Hungary and it is thanks to her that I developed my genealogical knowledge in this beautiful Eastern European country.
Of course, my research is primarily focused on Belgium, where I live and where I have documented my ancestry back to the 16th century.
In 2022, I published my first book, « Genealogy of the Debie family – 400 years of history ». In this well-documented history book, I retrace the history of my ancestors through the centuries, but also in space thanks to roots in the north of France or in The Netherlands.
I also try to trace the history of the places where they lived, because yes, the genealogy of places is also a fascinating subject. It allows us to imagine the daily life conditions of our ancestors.
